From Kyle at the Pulpit Pimps combox…God has horrible timing…

6 07 2009

This was a comment that Kyle left in a combox over at Pulpit Pimps. I thought that he summed up the “God wants all men to be saved!” rhetoric and put it in perspective nicely.

Here are Kyle’s words:

If God wanted ALL to be saved he sent Christ at a very bad time in history. What kind of Sovereign God would send Christ to earth 2000 years ago when we only had camels, horses, and not too sea worthy ships?

Talk about bad timing. – Yikes!

So here is poor Paul and the rest of the apostles running around a small piece of real estate why 90% of the world is dying and going to hell.

Sheesh! what kind of God is this?

But it gets worse. We have Christ saying things like,

” Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day”

Man this bites! You mean people can only come to Christ if they are “first” drawn by the father? That’s not fair. What about all the people who have never heard the gospel. They sure got ripped off.

Or how about this one,

“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”

God likes to reveal himself to whom he pleases.

I don’t like this one bit.

And then Christ goes ahead and thanks God by saying,

” I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight”.

Talk about unfair.

How could Jesus thank God for withholding the truth to some?

Oh! The nerve he has to say this,

“I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.”

Oh that one really irks me! First Jesus is thanking God for hiding the truth to some and then has the nerve to say he only prays for the ones God has given him. – The nerve!

Or how about this prophecy from Isaiah,

“He has blinded their eyes and deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn—and I would heal them”

I swear if I find out who Isaiah was talking about in regards to who is blinding and deadening these people hearts why I’m going to……………

Oh the heck with it. I’m going to reconvert to Arminianism. At least I get to feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Nicely said Kyle.

Quote of the Day…

9 06 2009

From Phil Johnson over at the Pyros;

Sermons with graphic sexual themes and church-wide sex challenges are merely symptoms of a much bigger problem. In short, the church is fornicating with the world and intoxicated with the spirit of the age. Some of neo-evangelicalism’s favorite jargon (missional, contextualization, authenticity) has been tortured and misappropriated in order to justify and institutionalize gross worldliness.

A product of the Modern Gospel…how sad.

6 06 2009

Wow is all I can say.

I’m not going to say that this is typical of every Christian but it’s waaaay too common. I’ve talked to far to many professing Christians that sounded just like this:

Update on Miss USA…apparently character is in short supply…

10 05 2009

Well…as Andy Rooney used to say…

“And now for the REST OF THE STORY!”

I had put a post up about Carrie Prejean; a pageant contestant that stood up for the sanctity of marriage and expressed her beliefs. She lost the crown because of her candor…unfortunately that’s where her candor stopped.

She also did something that no professing Christian would do; pose “Semi-nude” for modeling shots and be unrepentant about it and lie to the pageant officials about it….

Here is a link to the story on CNN

http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/05/05/california.miss.california/index.html

Yes…I had said this in a previous post:

Bravo to Miss USA runner up Carrie Prejean. She stood up for her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman…and she paid the price. Not only that, the questioner evidently went on a rampage and is disparaging her character for having 10 times more character than he ever will…

Apparently, nobody in this whole event has real Christian character…Least of all Carrie Prejean.

I stand corrected.

Atheists watch Joel Osteen…are we surprised? Nope…

5 05 2009

Oh man, isn’t this an illustration of what modern “Christianity” has become!

Joel Osteen is going to preach at Yankee Stadium.

To whet your appatite while the other page loads…here is a great comment from the article:

(Joel speaking)

I’ve had atheists tell me that they watch me on TV.

No kidding…but doesn’t the natural man hate the things of God?

Yes, yes he does…lucky for them what Joel preaches has nothing to do with the gospel…

“Woe to you when all people speak well of you, …” (Uh….Ricky…that means you)

24 12 2008

Well,

This pathetic showing by America’s Pastor Rick Warren needs no commentary. After being photographed in a Gay Clothing Store (what was he doing there again?) He was contacted by Melissa Etheridge about his appearance at the Obama inauguration.

She was hesitant to have a Pastor on the same bill considering her stance on Homosexuality…she needn’t have worried. Ricky is about as far from a Pastor as you can get…as the bible defines it, that is.

Here is a short quote from the article:

I told my manager to reach out to Pastor Warren and say “In the spirit of unity I would like to talk to him.” They gave him my phone number. On the day of the conference I received a call from Pastor Rick, and before I could say anything, he told me what a fan he was. He had most of my albums from the very first one. What? This didn’t sound like a gay hater, much less a preacher. He explained in very thoughtful words that as a Christian he believed in equal rights for everyone. He believed every loving relationship should have equal protection. He struggled with proposition 8 because he didn’t want to see marriage redefined as anything other than between a man and a woman. He said he regretted his choice of words in his video message to his congregation about proposition 8 when he mentioned pedophiles and those who commit incest. He said that in no way, is that how he thought about gays.

At least Melissa called it just right…”He didn’t SOUND like a preacher.

No he doesn’t. A REAL PREACHER would have loved Melissa enough to risk her anger by lovingly telling her the truth.

Had he actually cared about Melissa’s eternal soul he might have gently told her about what the bible says about homosexuality. He might have lovingly mentioned what it says about what their destination is…how they are currently under the wrath of Almighty God…and then told her to repent, and believe the gospel.

But then again…that’s IF HE WAS A PREACHER.

As I said; this post needs no commentary except from our Lord Jesus himself:

Luke 6:26

“Woe to you when all people speak well of you, for their ancestors did the same things to the false prophets.
